Hierothesion is an ancient, royal mausoleum at the summit of Mt. Nemrut in modern-day Turkey. Here, sculptures and bas-reliefs of Greco-Iranian deities mark the tomb of Antiochus (70-31BC). Whereas King Antiochus ordered the construction of Hierothesion as a monument to himself, we craft Hiero as a tribute to our friend and mentor, Michel Rolland - the most masterful blender of his time, and a friend we miss dearly.

22. The Why

Stories would often filter back to us of Kinsman stashes fiercely protected, nary a cork pulled for fear of chastisement. The need was clear: a Kinsman cabernet designed to drink in the near term without a lick of guilt, while waiting for our single vineyard bottlings to find their groove in the cellar. And so, from a blending bench rich with components from our beloved sites, Hiero was born. The same sources. The same winemaking. The same care. Artfully blended for Friday night grill sessions on the back deck.
Hierothesion contains fruit from a handful of the Kinsman vineyard sources - a true regional blend capturing the best of each AVA and showcasing the mastery of blending.
