19. Rancho Pequeño Vineyard

When Bart Araujo asks you if you’d like to make a Sauvignon Blanc from his vineyard, you don’t pause. This eastern Oakville site is incredible for whites. With the fruit he is farming, we’re able to thread the needle between restraint and density – we’re finding that tension we crave.” –Nigel Kinsman

Rancho Pequeño Vineyard-Oakville
Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

A Turkish-Persian name meaning one who is like the moon, Aisana’s figurative meanings are beautiful, radiant, or luminous, encapsulating all that we love about these sauvignon blanc semillon blends. Grown in ancient alluvial loam soils washed down from the Vaca Mountain Range, the fruit at Rancho Pequeño benefits from a southern sun exposure and cool afternoon marine airflow.

“Aisana offers a beguiling mix of citrus peel, white flowers, slate and crushed rocks, with just a touch of mid-palate creaminess for breadth. I very much admire the tension and energy here.”

20. The Relationship

As often happens when you are on the right path, our decision to delve into the world of sauvignon blanc coincided with the perfect site landing serendipitously in our lap. To Oakville’s eastern reaches we were pulled, to work with a jewel box vineyard owned by a winegrowing family we trust like no other. Bart and Daphne Araujo purchased Rancho Pequeño in 2013 and wasted no time getting the site certified organic and biodynamic. Farmed with the diligence and care that has defined this family and the fruit they grow, we couldn’t be more honored or excited to be working with it.
Liparita and Clone 18 Sauvignon Blanc are planted alongside Clone 173 Semillon in this eastern Oakville site.
